Overview
Field Bus Modules Series FBM

The FBM10 series represents a cost-effective alternative to the WAGO I/O system. All FBM10 modules have an RS485 interface with the Modbus RTU protocol and can be used as slaves for devices from the UMG 604, UMG 605, UMG 508, UMG 509, UMG 511 and UMG 512 series. The devices from UMG 104 and UMG 507 series cannot be used as masters for the FBM10 modules.

Modbus interface
Many UMG measuring devices have an RS485 interface with a Modbus RTU protocol, which enables extremely cost-efficient networking. It features simple topology configuration and a lack of sensitivity to EMC interference. Communication between the sender and the recipient takes place on a wired basis via a sheathed, twisted pair cable.
GridVis®
GridVis® is a comprehensive and scalable piece of software for setting up an energy monitoring system and monitoring the power quality. It is used to both program and configure many UMG measuring devices, as well as to read, process and analyse the measured data. Typical applications are energy supply, industrial systems, facility management, etc.
Thermistor input
The integrated thermistor input for thermal elements (PT 100/1000, KTY 83 or 84) can be used in diverse ways. Therefore, sensitive system parts can have further protection in addition to current and power monitoring, e.g. transformer temperature. Typical application areas are temperature monitoring in low voltage main distribution systems, transformers or server cabinets.
Reporting
Powerful RCM residual current monitoring already detects leakage currents in their initial stages before they cause system failures or even fires. It is already integrated in certain UMG measuring devices. The measuring current transformer that is required can be installed manually at a later date if required. Continuous RCM monitoring increases the system safety and availability significantly. In specific applications such as the data centre, residual current monitoring is essential due to the high availability requirements.

Features

The FBM10 series represents a cost-effective alternative to the WAGO I/O system. All FBM10 modules have an RS485 interface with the Modbus RTU protocol and can be used as slaves for devices from the UMG 604, UMG 605, UMG 508, UMG 509, UMG 511 and UMG 512 series. The devices from UMG 104 and UMG 507 series cannot be used as masters for the FBM10 modules.

  • RS485 interface
  • Protocol Modbus RTU
  • Can be used as a slave device to the measurement devices from series UMG 604, UMG 605, UMG 508 and UMG 511
  • Also possible to connect over a distance of 1,000 m to the RS485 Modbus Master interface of the device; either via Profibus cable or e.g. a cable of type Li2YCY(TP) 2 x 2 x 0.22
  • Modules are available pre-configured and programmed according to the selected measurement device
Use of the modules FBM10I and FBM10R
  • Consolidation of various input and output signals in order to distribute to the respective participants
  • Connection with the respective Modbus master from the device series UMG 604, UMG 605, UMG 508 or UMG 511 is required in order to use the field bus modules
  • All data points are integrated into the Janitza system
  • Detection of a wide range of key variables such as process data, states, error messages, threshold values, alarm outputs, etc.
  • Archiving and visualisation via the software GridVis®

Use of the FBM10PT1000 module
  • Temperature field bus module
  • Logging of up to 10 temperature measurements (e.g. via PT100 or PT1000)
  • The recording and visualisation of the measured values takes place with the aid of UMG 604, UMG 605, UMG 508 or UMG 511 and the required expansion (see chapter 04 APPs – Expansion with know-how)
